Oct. 6, 1964 - The New York Telephone Company will again furnish the World Series scores to interested fans through its time bureau — ME 7-1212.
One hour before game time, ME 7 will announce the starting lineups. Inning-by-inning scores will be announced during the games. The final score will be carried for one hour after each game or until 6 p.m., whichever is later.
New York Telephone, which has been providing this service to fans since 1941, can handle 35,000 calls an hour. The company’s service is designed to prevent overloading busy switchboards at newspapers, radio stations, and baseball team offices.
