Movies: “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”

Jan. 13, 1965 - George Segal (pictured) has been signed by Warner Brothers for the third lead in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Segal will play Nick, the aggressive young professor, in the Edward Albee drama. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton will have the leads. The picture is to start filming in the spring.

The Warner movie, marking Mike Nichols’ debut as a screen director, will reunite Segal and Nichols. They were together off Broadway in “The Knack.”

Segal has a major role in the forthcoming film, “Ship of Fools,” to be released in July, and stars with James Fox in “King Rat,” set for release in October.
