Aug. 22, 1962 - Today’s new film is “The Music Man,” a musical with Robert Preston at the Radio City Music Hall. The film, directed and produced by Morton DaCosta, is based on Meredith Willson’s 1957 Broadway musical of the same name, which DaCosta also directed. Mr. Preston reprises the title role from the stage version, starring alongside Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett, Ron Howard, and Paul Ford.
