Dec. 25, 1964 - Opening today is “Sex and the Single Girl,” a Technicolor comedy directed by Richard Quine and starring Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Henry Fonda, Lauren Bacall, and Mel Ferrer. The film is loosely based on Helen Gurley Brown’s 1962 nonfiction book of the same name.
In the film’s story, a womanizing reporter (Curtis) for a sleazy tabloid magazine impersonates his hen-pecked neighbor (Fonda) in order to get an exposé on renowned psychologist Helen Gurley Brown.
