June 20, 1962 - Opening today is “Ride the High Country,” a CinemaScope Western film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, and Mariette Hartley. The supporting cast includes Edgar Buchanan, James Drury, and Warren Oates. An ex-union soldier (McCrea) is hired to transport gold from a mining community through dangerous territory. What he doesn't realize is that his partner and old friend (Scott) is plotting to double-cross him.
