Apr. 8, 1964 - Opening today is “Paris When It Sizzles,” a romantic comedy film directed by Richard Quine from a screenplay by George Axelrod. The film stars William Holden and Audrey Hepburn, with Grégoire Aslan, Raymond Bussières, Noël Coward, and Tony Curtis in supporting roles.
Miss Hepburn shot the film in the summer of 1962, back-to-back with “Charade,” which she shot that fall with Cary Grant. The films share several locations, most notably a Punch and Judy puppet theatre in the park in front of the Théâtre Marigny.
The story of “Paris When It Sizzles” deals with the sprightly young assistant (Hepburn) of a Hollywood screenwriter (Holden) who helps him over his writer’s block by acting out his fantasies of possible plots.
