Oct. 19, 1963 - Opening today is “Johnny Cool,” a crime film directed by William Asher based on the novel “The Kingdom of Johnny Cool” by John McPartland. The film stars Henry Silva and Elizabeth Montgomery (pictured). Supporting players include Mort Sahl, Telly Savalas, Jim Backus, Joey Bishop, and Sammy Davis Jr., who also sings the theme song. The story deals with exiled American gangster Colini (Marc Lawrence), who sends his protégé, the killer Giordano (Silva), to the U.S. to eliminate Colini's mob enemies.
