Jan. 21, 1965 - Max von Sydow, the Swedish star of such Ingmar Bergman dramas as “The Seventh Seal” and “The Virgin Spring,” will play the leading role opposite Julie Andrews in “Hawaii.”
The actor, who makes his first Hollywood appearance as Jesus Christ in the forthcoming “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” will play the missionary Abner Hale in the film version of the James A. Michener book.
Pre-production for the elaborate historical drama will begin in Bodo, Norway, on Feb. 22, with the stars reporting to work in New England on April 19.
