Apr. 9, 1962 - “Cape Fear,” a Universal-International suspense drama with Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, Polly Bergen, and Martin Balsam, will open on April 18 at New York’s Trans-Lux Theatre. J. Lee Thompson directed the screenplay by James R. Webb, adapted from the 1957 novel “The Executioners” by John D. MacDonald. The film concerns an attorney whose family is stalked by a criminal he helped to send to jail.
