Movies: “Bunny Lake Is Missing”

Jan. 31, 1965 - Sir Laurence Olivier, who has not appeared in films since the 1962 British drama, “Term of Trial,” will return to the screen in Otto Preminger’s suspense drama, “Bunny Lake Is Missing.” He was signed last May to portray an African leader in the period adventure drama, “Khartoum,” but filming of that production has been postponed.

The actor will play a police inspector in “Bunny Lake is Missing.”

During Olivier’s screen absence, he has been devoting himself to the National British Theater. Preminger will begin filming “Bunny Lake,” with Carol Lynley and Keir Dullea in the other featured roles, in London on April 21. The film is to be released by Columbia Pictures.

In the film, which is based on the 1957 novel of the same name, a woman reports that her young daughter is missing, but there seems to be no evidence that she ever existed.
