Movies: Anthony Quinn to Appear in "Lawrence of Arabia"

Aug. 22, 1961 - Anthony Quinn will play an Arab chief in "Lawrence of Arabia." The actor will interrupt his assignment in "Barrabas," now shooting in Rome, to report to Jordan for scenes with the director, David Lean. The epic historical drama film is based on the life of T.E. Lawrence and his 1926 book "Seven Pillars of Wisdom." Mr. Lawrence was a British archaeologist, army officer, diplomat, and writer, who became renowned for his role in the Arab Revolt (1916–1918) and the Sinai and Palestine Campaign (1915–1918) against the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The breadth and variety of his activities and associations, and his ability to describe them vividly in writing, earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia.
