June 23, 1964 - Opening today is “A Shot in the Dark,” a comedy film directed by Blake Edwards in Panavision. It follows “The Pink Panther,” with Peter Sellers (right) reprising his role as Inspector Jacque Clouseau of the French Sûreté.
In the story, Inspector Clouseau falls in love with a murder suspect and tries to clear her name. Elke Sommer (left) plays the murder suspect, Maria Gambrelli.
The soundtrack to “A Shot in the Dark,” was composed by Henry Mancini, who did the music for “The Pink Panther” as well.
