June 11, 1963 - Merv Griffin, who lost his NBC television show last April, will return with another daytime series in September. Mr. Griffin will be the host of an audience participation program called “Shopping Spree.” It will run weekdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m., starting Sept. 30. The television personality had an hour-long afternoon show on NBC until April 1 when, despite good reviews, it was ousted because of low ratings. His replacements have not done much better. Mr. Griffin, who will host a summer-season “Talent Scouts” series on CBS, said he hoped for nighttime shows next season too.
