Martin Luther King, SCLC Push Integration Policies

Sept. 23, 1961 - More than 200 representatives of organizations affiliated with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference will gather in Nashville Wednesday for their annual meeting. During the three days of sessions, plans will be discussed for pressing the struggle against Negro segregation. The conference is headed by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. of Atlanta, leader of the 1955-6 bus boycott at Montgomery, Ala. The policies of the organization follow the principle of positive action against racial barriers. James Farmer, national director of the Congress of Racial Equality, will speak Thursday on "Nonviolence and Social Revolution."
