Jan. 29, 1963 - Shortstop Luis Aparicio (pictured last March) said today he is accepting the 1963 contract sent to him by the Baltimore Orioles. “The contract had good conditions,” said Aparicio, acquired after the 1962 season from the Chicago White Sox. It is believed that Aparicio’s contract with the Orioles will call for $40,000 — the same amount he made with the White Sox last season. Aparicio was traded by the White Sox after making it plain to them that he would resist a salary cut. He batted .241 in 153 games for the White Sox in 1962. He hit 7 homers, drove in 40 runs, and stole 31 bases.
