Jan. 8, 1965 - A London taxi driver was fined in court today on charges of having insulted Mrs. Françoise Jordan (right), 32-year-old French-born wife of Colin Jordan (left), leader of the British Nazi movement. He was also charged with having damaged her necklace.
Mrs. Jordan was in court with her husband to see the driver, Wolfe Busell, fined the equivalent of $8.40. Busell had no previous convictions.
According to police testimony, Busell, whose cab was hailed by Mrs. Jordan, recognized her and told her to go away, shouting: “I don’t want you. I am a Jew, you stinking Nazi.”
When she refused to move, Busell got out of his cab and tore a swastika necklace from her neck and flung it into the street. He said he had lost his temper after she had said to him: “Well, if you are a Jew, what are you doing out of the ovens?” The magistrate, Walter Frampton, said he could understand Busell’s feelings but added that such behavior did not do him or the Jewish people any good.
After the case, Mr. and Mrs. Jordan posed for photographers outside the court and gave the Nazi salute.
