Apr. 13, 1963 - Lenny Bruce, the American comedian, was ordered expelled from Britain today for the second time this week. Two plainclothes policemen took him to London Airport for return to New York under a deportation order issued by the Home Secretary, Henry Brooke. The American’s second stay lasted only a few hours longer than Monday’s. Then he was on his way back to New York two hours after his arrival. There was no authority to refuse him entry today since he had entered legally by the Irish “back door” route. Therefore, the Home Office acted under a section of the Alien Act to deport him. Mr. Bruce, who specializes in so-called “sick” humor and whose nightclub act is usually heavy with four-letter words, has a drug charge to face next month in Hollywood. Mr. Bruce was met in Dublin yesterday by Peter Bellwood, a writer and performer at The Establishment, a London nightclub where Mr. Bruce had been booked to perform. Early today, Mr. Bruce and Mr. Bellwood hired a car and drove across the border of Belfast. There is no control over movements between Eire, the southern part of Ireland, and the North, which is part of Great Britain.
