June 6, 1962 - The Minnesota Twins, behind the five-hit pitching of Jim Kaat (pictured), scored a 7-0 victory today over the Kansas City Athletics. Kaat, hurling his second shutout of the season, permitted only one runner to reach third. Bobby Del Greco singled to left in the sixth and later went to third on a groundout. He was cut down at home trying to score on the play. The left-hander struck out 4 and walked 1 to even his record at 4-4. The Twins pounded the Athletics’ starter and loser, Jerry Walker, for eight hits and six runs before he was relieved by Bill Kunkel with two out in the fourth.
