Japanese Slugger, Sadaharu Oh, Hits Four Consecutive Homers in One Game

May 3, 1964 - In Tokyo today, Sadaharu Oh (pictured) tied a Japanese record by hitting four consecutive home runs in one game.

Oh, a 25-year-old left-handed slugger, accounted for six of his team’s runs as the Yomiuri Giants, the third-place club of the Central League, beat the second-place Hanshin Tigers, 9-0. He has 17 homers for the season.

Oh, a 5-foot-11-inch 165-pounder, kicks his right leg high as he bats, in a “flamingo” style made famous by Mel Ott. He has hit 132 homers in his six seasons with the Giants.
