Hornung Turned Down Big Money to Stay a Packer

Aug. 7, 1962 - Paul Hornung said today he had declined an offer of $250,000 to leave the world champion Green Bay Packers and play for another club. “Nobody’s worth that much,” he said. Hornung, the NFL scoring champion the past three seasons, said the offer had been made during the past year. He declined to say what club or league had proposed it. The former Notre Dame all-American said the offer would have provided a $100,000 bonus and $150,000 for three seasons of play.#NFL #football #1960s #OTD #packers
