Gov. Brown of California Seeks Kennedy's Support

Sept. 13, 1961 - Gov. Edmund G. Brown of California made a strong bid today for support from the Kennedy Administration in his battle, perhaps against Richard M. Nixon, for re-election next year. He declared that his administration had already achieved many of the liberal goals sought by President Kennedy. Gov. Brown said that California offered "positive proof that the New Frontier can work." He said Republicans "can't make much of a case against the New Frontier as long as the example of California proves them wrong."
