June 9, 1965 - Elvis Presley topped the hit parade in the Beatles’ native Great Britain today for the first time since the Beatles rose to fame nearly three years ago. His record, “Crying in the Chapel,” was No. 1.
In third place was a record by two other Americans, the Everly Brothers, with “The Price of Love.” British Sandie Shaw was in second place with “Long Live Love.” Last week, she topped the parade.
The Beatles — at least for now — were down in the 24th spot with “Ticket to Ride.”
