Eddie Albert To Star in New CBS Comedy Series

May 3, 1965 - Eddie Albert (pictured with Eva Gabor) will star in a new comedy series which will debut on CBS in the fall. Albert plays an attorney who, with his wife, pulls up stakes and moves from the city to a rural community.

Jay Sommers created the series and will produce. Paul Henning, creator of “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Petticoat Junction,” is executive producer. The show is now slotted for 9 p.m. Wednesdays.

NBC has announced Maurice Chevalier as host of a one-hour special devoted to music of the late Cole Porter, which will be presented as a Thanksgiving night special, Nov. 25.

Desilu is reshooting two pilot films. “Star Trek,” which reportedly cost $500,000 the first time around, is being filmed again without Jeffrey Hunter. “The Good Old Days” is undergoing script and premise revisions and will be shot a second time with another actor replacing Darryl Hickman.

Aaron Spelling has set starting dates for three Four Star Television series he heads. “The Smothers Brothers Show” for CBS begins filming May 16. “Amos Burke, Secret Agent” (formerly “Burke’s Law”), starring Gene Barry, starts its third season of shooting June 7 for ABC. “Honey West,” starring Anne Francis and John Ericson for ABC, goes before the cameras June 14.

“The Fugitive” resumed production on its third season last week with a segment titled “Set Fire to a Straw Man.” Guests Diana Hyland, Edward Binns, and Joseph Campanella joined series star David Janssen.
