June 4, 1962 - Sandy Koufax pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 13 today as he put the Dodgers back on their feet with a 6-3 victory over the Phillies in Philadelphia. A two-out, three-run home run by Jackie Davis, a pinch hitter, in the ninth spoiled the shutout. It was the eighth victory for Koufax against 2 defeats and the fourth game in a row in which he struck out 10 or more. His strikeout total now is 123.
