June 9, 1962 - Dean Martin quit the movie “Something’s Got to Give” today because Marilyn Monroe had been dismissed. “I have the greatest respect for Miss Lee Remick and her talent and all the other actresses who were considered for the role, but I signed to do the picture with Marilyn Monroe, and I will do it with no one else,” Mr. Martin declared. He notified 20th Century-Fox of his decision through the Music Corporation of America, his agency. The studio dismissed Miss Monroe yesterday, charging her with breach of contract in her repeated absences. When Miss Monroe signed for the movie, she had asked that Mr. Martin be her co-star.
