June 3, 1963 - Comedian Dick Gregory’s 2-month-old son died today despite efforts of the child’s mother and neighbors to administer artificial respiration. Mrs. Lillian Gregory told firemen the baby, Richard Jr., had a slight fever Sunday night, and when she awakened this morning, she found that the infant had stopped breathing. Mr. Gregory, who had traveled to Jackson, Mississippi to participate in anti-segregation demonstrations, immediately flew back to Chicago upon hearing of the death of his son.
