Oct. 14, 1963 - Claudia Cardinale will be much in evidence on Los Angeles theater screens this week. She stars in two films opening in multiple runs on Wednesday. Miss Cardinale appears opposite Burt Lancaster and Alan Delon in 20th Century-Fox’s production of “The Leopard,” to be seen at numerous theaters and drive-ins including Warrens, Iris, Studio, and Victory. The actress also plays a role in Federico Fellini’s “8½,” also opening Wednesday at multiple theaters, opposite Marcello Mastroianni. The 25-year-old actress won the “Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia” competition in 1957, the prize being a trip to Italy, which quickly led to film contracts. After making her debut in a minor role with the Egyptian star Omar Sharif in “Goha” (1958), Cardinale became one of the best-known actresses in Italy with roles in films such as “Rocco and his Brothers” (1960) and “Cartouche” (1962). She also has a role in the forthcoming Blake Edwards comedy, “The Pink Panther.”
