June 5, 1964 - Former baseball star Roy Campanella has married the girl next door, it was disclosed today.
The one-time Brooklyn Dodger catcher married Mrs. Roxie Joynes Doles exactly one month ago on May 5. She lived in the apartment next to his for several years.
The ceremony was performed in Campanella’s apartment. Only a few close friends were invited.
The ballplayer was paralyzed in an automobile accident in January 1958 and has been in a wheelchair ever since.
This is his third marriage and the second for his new wife.
