Bob Cummings To Leave CBS-TV’s “My Living Doll”

Feb. 5, 1965 - The role of Bob Cummings (left), who portrays a psychiatrist on “My Living Doll,” will be written out of the CBS comedy show by having him called away to Pakistan.

The actor will appear on the series for the last time on Wednesday evening, and the following week there will be a reference to the fact that he has gone to Pakistan. How the writers of the show happened to pick Pakistan was not explained by CBS.

A month ago, Cummings was released from his contract at his own request. Twenty-one episodes had been filmed at that time.

He has portrayed a psychiatrist with custody of a beautiful robot played by Julie Newmar (right). In the remaining episodes of “My Living Doll,” Jack Mullaney, a featured actor in the cast, will become custodian of the robot.
