May 19, 1962 - Allen Ludden (pictured with Betty White), described by CBS as a scholar, author, and former educator, has elected to relinquish the role of moderator on “College Bowl” to remain as master of ceremonies for “Password,” a game show. Mr. Ludden, who now appears on both programs, had to choose when CBS decided that the night version of “Password” would be televised next fall on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. This is a half hour after “College Bowl” ends its weekly presentation. The question arose as to whether the same host or moderator should be appearing on programs only 30 minutes apart.
