Actress Jean Seberg Marries Novelist Romain Gary

Oct. 22, 1963 - Jean Seberg, the film actress, and Romain Gary, novelist-diplomat, were married secretly last Wednesday in the little Corsican town of Sarrola-Carcopino. Mayor Noel Sarrola said he married them Wednesday afternoon. They flew to Corsica from Nice, accompanied by two friends, a French Air Force general and his wife, who acted as witnesses. Miss Seberg and her husband returned to Nice shortly after the wedding. Miss Seberg, who is 24 years old, was formerly married to French film director Francois Moreuil. Since 1960, she has been living in France, where she made several films, including Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless” (1960). Mr. Gary, a former pilot and war hero, won France’s top literary prize, the Prix Goncourt, in 1956 for his novel “The Roots of Heaven.”
