ABC’s “Bewitched” to Premiere Sept. 17

July 5, 1964 - “Bewitched,” a half-hour television comedy series with Elizabeth Montgomery as a housewife with magical powers, will have its premiere on ABC Sept. 17. Miss Montgomery will be assisted by Dick York, who plays her husband, a reasonably normal advertising man, and Agnes Moorehead, a mother-in-law who really is a witch.

The series recalls John Van Druten’s play “Bell, Book and Candle,” in which Lilli Palmer and Rex Harrison played the loving couple, and Jean Adair was an eccentric aunt.
