Jan. 9, 1965 - Some sort of a youth movement seems to have arisen in the area of television news reporters. Recently, the ABC network selected Peter Jennings (pictured), 26, as anchorman for its early evening news program, effective Feb. 1.
The Canadian-born newsman has had years of experience, according to ABC, which said he began his broadcasting career at the age of nine with his own music and news radio program presented by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
But Jennings isn’t as young as Jim Hartz, who does the 11 p.m. news on NBC New York. He is 24.
