July 3, 1962 - Hot dog eaters around the United States will consume this year more than 15 billion frankfurters, or about 82 per person. Commenting on “National Hot Dog Month,” which began Sunday, Leonard Pines, president of Hebrew National Kosher Foods, Inc., predicted a 15% rise in frankfurter sales from the 13 billion consumed in 1961. Sales of specialty frankfurters, such as the kosher, all-beef hot dog, Mr. Pines reported, have increased sharply during the last two years.
